Neck & Back Pain

Posted by:

Back pain can be caused by multiple factors, whether a trauma at home or work, hereditary degenerative joint disease, poor posture, or sports. Some spinal pain can cause radiating pain into other areas, arms, legs, etc., complicating the symptoms and causing concern.

Some of the diagnoses we treat in the spine include degenerative disc disease, displacement of a spinal disc (“disc bulge,”) as well as sprain and strain injuries to the lower back, mid back and neck regions.

When appropriate, manipulation of the joints is utilized to gain movement where a joint is “stuck” and not moving, and ART is used to treat the muscles and ligaments surrounding the joints and spine. A bulging disc can sometimes push on a nerve causing radiating pain into an extremity. Our doctors are both proficient at nerve gliding using Active Release Technique, breaking up adhesions around the nerve where it travels through the tissues. ART is about 80% of the treatment, while manipulation may only be 20% of your visit. We believe this soft tissue treatment is a key component of care; therefore a lot of time is spent on your muscles and ligaments.
