Repetitive Use Disorders

Posted by:

A common repetitive use disorder is carpal tunnel syndrome, which is characterized by tingling, numbness, weakness and pain into the hand from a compressed nerve in the wrist. However, you can also develop pain in the shoulders, elbows, and even in the neck, mid back and lower back from repetitive activities versus one particular trauma or incident.

The doctors would mobilize the nerves using ART, breaking up scar tissue around them, loosening tight muscles, and regaining motion, thereby decreasing the pressure on the nerves ...

Buttock, Knee & Foot Pain

Posted by:

Whether you have sprained an ankle or developed runner’s shin splints, a lower extremity injury can stop you from daily activities. These can be treated in our clinic with ART, as can plantar fasciitis, and other leg muscle strains or injuries. Some knee pain can be caused from the meniscus, the cartilage cushion within the joint, having become stuck or torn. If treated soon enough, it is possible to regain pain-free movement and get back to life.

Hip & Leg Pain

Posted by:

Hip pain caused by a degenerative hip joint is painful and can cause a change to your gait, in turn leading to other aches and pains. Some hip pain is due to an injury, bursitis or a muscle strain, and can be just as painful. Some leg pain is radiating in nature, stemming from the lower back or an irritation along the course of the sciatic nerve, or other nerves in the lower extremity, where it is being tensioned within tight muscle tissues.

The doctors use ...

Neck & Back Pain

Posted by:

Back pain can be caused by multiple factors, whether a trauma at home or work, hereditary degenerative joint disease, poor posture, or sports. Some spinal pain can cause radiating pain into other areas, arms, legs, etc., complicating the symptoms and causing concern.

Some of the diagnoses we treat in the spine include degenerative disc disease, displacement of a spinal disc (“disc bulge,”) as well as sprain and strain injuries to the lower back, mid back and neck regions.

When appropriate, manipulation of the joints is utilized to ...

Elbow Pain

Posted by:

People can develop elbow pain from playing sports, or from repetitive activities. This can cause inflammation and pain in different aspects of the elbow and hinder daily life and hobbies.

ART is used in our clinic to treat elbow pain. This soft tissue treatment is done directly to the different muscles, fascia, and ligaments in the arm to gain function, thereby decreasing pain. There is no chiropractic manipulation done to the elbow joint itself, but sometimes pain can be relieved with other modalities ...

Shoulder Pain

Posted by:

Shoulder pain occurs often, and can range from a simple strained muscle in the rotator cuff to a complete tear or rupture due to a traumatic injury. “Frozen shoulder,” or adhesive capsulitis, can occur with no trauma or injury at all, or after having the arm immobilized perhaps after a surgery. The capsule of connective tissue surrounding the shoulder joint tightens up causing pain and decreased range of motion.

When treating shoulder pain, our doctors will treat the muscles, fascia, and ligaments in the rotator cuff ...

Head & Neck Pain

Posted by:

Neck pain can be the result of trauma or injury, but it can also develop slowly over time due to poor posture, prolonged positions, or the wrong sleeping conditions. Some of the neck diagnoses we treat include neck sprains, strains, disc degeneration, and disc displacement (disc “bulge”). Because some headaches can stem directly from muscles or nerves at the neck level, and they can often be improved with treatment in our clinic.

When treating neck conditions, our doctors use Active Release ...
